‘There Was A Feeling That I Have Forgotten My Bowling Run-Up’ Says Yuzvendra Chahal

Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has opened about his reaction returning back to the ground after the Coronavirus pandemic triggered lockdown. The 30 year old tells he kept himself busy during the lockdown working out at home, making tik-tok videos and finding his life partner. The Indian spinner got engaged to Youtuber Dhanashree Verma before travelling to UAE for the IPL.
Chahal will be playing for RCB in the 13th edition of IPL, he has been an integral part of the team since 2014, when he was brought from Mumbai Indians. He has 100 scalps to his name in 84 appearances in his IPL career.

The cricketers had been out of action for the longest period due to the lockdown in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. It forced them to stay at home, away from the pitches. Yuzvendra Chahal has revealed he felt strange returning back to the field after such a long gap, and he initially felt he had forgotten his bowling run-up. He stated things didn’t go too bad for him in finding way back to his usual self in the nets.
“I felt a bit strange, when I went to bowl after such a long lay-off. I bowled some four to five overs, sometimes there was a feeling that I have forgotten my bowling run-up, but luckily things didn’t go too bad for me.” Chahal told The Indian Express.
Yuzvendra Chahal opens up on his doubts on his form on returning
The Indian right arm, leg-spinner has opened up about his experience on returning from the long gap. He told he had a few doubts on his bowling because of not seeing the pitch for so long. Chahal stated he wondered how his body would react to bowling and there was a slight worry in his mind to not to put too much load to force an injury.
“Obviously, I had a few doubts because I was bowling after a gap of four months. In the past, even when you are injured, at least you can go to the ground. This has been a rare instance when we came to the ground after a gap of four months. I was wondering how will my body react to bowling.”
“It’s on my mind because sometimes I think that when you are coming back after such a long layoff, the key is not put too much load on the body. There is that worry about getting injured.”
Chahal will be seen in action for RCB in the upcoming IPL. RCB have never won the IPL, however, they have reached the final thrice, under three different captains but the IPL title has never got in their hands.
The Indian Premier League will be played in UAE amid the Coronavirus pandemic and will be held in three venues Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah from September 19 to November 10 amid COVID-19 protocols laid down by the ICC and BCCI.
