India’s ace wrist-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, recently realised the importance of gym and keeping fit, crediting his new-found motivation to his RCB skipper, Virat Kohli.

In a favourite talk show hosted by Gaurav Kapur, ‘Breakfast with Champions’, Chahal claimed he was not a fan of going to the gym, keeping himself fit.

But on his captain’s advice regarding the physical requirements of the modern game, Chahal realised the need to go to the gym.

Virat bhaiya (big brother) inspires me a lot. Both on and off the field, he helps me a lot. He told me that my life has changed and I need to stay fit. Now I know that fitness is important. Even I am feeling better after working out,” Yuzvendra Chahal told Gaurav Kapur, during the show.

Deep into the conversation, Chahal also disclosed about the turning point in his cricketing career. During the initial stages of his career, Chahal modelled his action watching his cricketing hero Shane Warne.

However, Chahal once decided to run a little longer, which helped his case in growing leaps and bounds since.

Shane Warne was my cricketing hero while growing up. First, my action, during under 14 was similar. In this action, in Haryana under 19, I changed my action in the middle of the match,” added the leg-spinner from Haryana.

“I ran a little longer and knew there will be less spin and that paid dividends. That turned out to be my best decision. I never overthink in pressure situations because now I am mentally strong,” concluded Yuzvendra Chahal.
