Former India cricketer, Zaheer Khan has slammed critics of former India skipper MS Dhoni saying that he is the best India have and urged them to be silent till the 2019 World Cup in England.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni attracted a lot of criticism post his slow innings against England in the limited-overs series. MS Dhoni failed to score quick runs, as India went down in the ODI series 2-1.
Zaheer Khan feels if the management had continued with him until now, they should do it till the 2019 World Cup.
“If the team management has persisted with him till now, they might as well do it till the World Cup,” Zaheer told PTI.
MSD has time and again proved his ability in the white-ball cricket. Recently, he led Chennai Super Kings in the IPL towards the victory and was scintillating with the bat as well.
The 95 Tests and 300 plus ODIs veteran, Dhoni offers the much-needed experience to this Indian team. Skipper Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri have backed the wicket-keeper batsman. Zaheer Khan, hence, believes there is no point talking about the future of MS Dhoni.
The left-arm pacer further feels Dhoni’s knowledge of leading the team to the World Cup title in 2011 is what would come handy for Kohli. Zaheer Khan feels Kohli will do a lot better if he has MS Dhoni by his side.
“Dhoni has performed the difficult job of captaining India for years. His experience could prove to be extremely beneficial. He is as good as we have got,” Zaheer concluded.
