Well, the all out efforts undertaken by PCB to persuade India to tour them have vanished. This is in terms of the fact that the Zimbabwe cricket authorities have decided to abandon the proposed tour of Pakistan, with only 15 minutes later retracting their position. Zimbabwe was set to be the first team to tour Pakistan since March 2009 when militants attacked the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore killing six Pakistani policemen and a van driver. PCB was trying hard to persuade BCCI to undertake a schedule of India Pak series later in the year, on the plea that Zimbabwe is going to play in Pakistan. There were reports in media that PCB had even invited BCCI to watch the above series with Zimbabwe.
However, now the equation has rapidly changed as Zimbabwe cricket authorities on Thursday abandoned a planned tour to Pakistan, citing poor security after recent militant violence that has revived fears after a deadly attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009.
“The decision not to tour at this time has been taken after considering the advice from the country’s supreme sports regulatory authority, the Sports and Recreational Commission (SRC),” Zimbabwe Cricket said in a statement.
Even prior to this due to security concerns, it was not looking feasible despite the best efforts of PCB.
But 15 minutes later there was confusion on all social media websites as Zimbabwe’s upcoming tour to Pakistan with Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) still in talks with its own government over security concerns and Zimbabwe sports and recreational commission. It is rumoured that, in all likelihood, ZC will cancel the tour.
