Imperious South Africa chased down a huge Australian score
After winning the toss the Africans opted to field but the Aussies started well with their openers putting on 92 for 1st wicket beofre Hughes departed for 51. Later Marsh departed for just 5 failing to continue his show against Zimbabwe. But along with Captain Bailey, Finch put on a stand off 114 in just 93 balls as he raced to his 4th ODI Century of 2014. Finch scored 102 and Bailey smacked 66 and both fell in spare of an over. Australia looked like lossing their start as Maxwell and Haddin too departed for cheap scores. But a 19 ball 31 from Smith and 10 ball 23 from Johnson took Aussies to a stiff total of 327 for 7.
Chasing 328, Proteas got a good start but the openers, Amla and De Kock departed in difference of a over leaving their team in trouble. But Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers took on the Australian pacers as the quickies couldn’t do anything much. They put on 206 in just 29 overs before Faf departed after scoring his maiden ODI ton as the South African look to chase it down with atleast 5 overs left. After the wicket, the batting team didn’t face anything tough as Duminy along with AB De Villiers who scored an unbeaten 136 chased down the target with 20 balls.
South Africa: 328 for 3 in 46.4 overs (AB de Villiers 136*, F du Plessis 106; MA Starc 2/62) beat Australia: 327 for 7 in 50 overs (AJ Finch 102, GJ Bailey 66; Imran Tahir 2/45, M Morkel 2/63) by 7 wickets
