The ODI series against Zimbabwe was barely a cakewalk for MS Dhoni’s team India. The Indian bowlers were all over the helpless Zimbabwean batsmen as the hosts provided no fight to the visitors.
In all the three ODI’s, Zimbabwe went down without displaying much zeal and thus all games ended up being utterly one-sided.
However, with the ODI series done and dusted, it is now time to shift focus to the three-match T20I series, commencing from the 18th of June at Harare.
Team India have been the side to beat in T20I’s this year, as the men in blue have won 16 out of the19 T20I’s they played this year.
The one loss which stings Indian fans a lot was against West Indies in the semi-final of the World T20 in Mumbai on 31st March.
Nevertheless, this current Indian squad in Zimbabwe has just 3 members who featured against West Indies in that semi-final.
A change in format could be a welcome move for Zimbabwe as shorter the game gets, the prospects of Zimbabwe doing well seem likelier.
The hosts would want to definitely win a game or two in the series to provide some respite for their fans.
The last time India played Zimbabwe in a T20I, Zimbabwe ended up winning the game in a low scoring thriller.
For India, there could be a few individuals making their debuts. With the playing XI not being certain as of now, it is assumed that the visitors will test the individuals who warmed the benches in the ODI series.
India Predicted XI for the first T20I:
KL. Rahul 2. Mandeep Singh 3. Manish Pandey 4. Ambati Rayudu 5. Kedar Jadhav 6. MS. Dhoni 7. Axar Patel 8. Rishi Dhawan / Dhawal Kulkarni 9. Jasprit Bumrah 10. Barinder Sran / Jaydev Unadkat 11. Yuzvendra Chahal
