The Premier League is slowly heating up with teams at both ends of the table fighting hard for every point on offer every week.
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea managed to keep their top spot while the Cherries stepped into the top half of the table. Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United were left frustrated while the London duo Arsenal and Tottenham had comfortable games.
Here are 10 such talking point from Match Day 14 of the Barclays Premier League:
Conte and Co down Guardiola:

Manchester City went into the weekend’s game against Chelsea knowing that a victory can take them top of the table but Conte’s Chelsea put in a commanding second half performance with goals from Costa, Hazard and Willian giving them all three points and opening up a 3 point gap at the top of the table, 14 games into the season. It will be remembered for the ugly brawl that saw bans and fines imposed on the players and he clubs.
Potters into the top half:
Mark Hughes side made a disastrous start to the season but they have now picked up some impressive form and got a 2-0 victory over Sean Dyche’s Burnley to move into the 10th place in the points table. Jonathan Walters and Marc Muniesa were on target for the home side as Burnley were left frustrated in the 15th place, 14 games into the season.
Sunderland off the bottom:
For the first time this season, David Moyes’ Sunderland moved above the bottom position with a morale boosting victory over the Champions of England at the weekend. An own goal from Huth and a winner from Defoe were enough for the Black Cats who are now in the 18th place in the table.
5-star Spurs:

Goals from Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Son gave Pochettino’s side a much needed victory over Swansea at the Lane this weekend. The Welsh visitors had no answer to the home side and almost never turned up for the game making it comfortable for the Spurs.
3 in 4:
Tony Pulis’ West Brom side have found some decent form recently and are now unbeaten in their last 4 games, winning three of them including their 3-1 victory at home against Watford. This win takes the Baggies into the 7th place, 10 points off a UCL spot.
Alexis Sanchez the hero:

The Chilean scored his second hat-trick of the season this weekend in Arsenal’s trip to the Olympic Stadium as the Gunners put 5 past a clueless West Ham defense on a comfortable night. Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott were also on target as Arsenal moved to 3 points from the top of the table in the 2nd place.
Benteke sinks the Saints:
Southampton have been in some good form recently but Alan Pardew’s Palace put in a superb performance this weekend as they managed to put 3 past one of the strongest defenses in the league this weekend. Christian Benteke scored a brace while Tomkins got another as the Saints dropped all three point from this game.
Bournemouth stun Liverpool:

From leading 2-0 and 3-1, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool littered the lead twice in the game to lose their second game of the season as the Cherries managed to score 3 goals in the last 15 minutes to lose their place at the top of the table. This loss leaves Liverpool in the 3rd place, 4 points off Chelsea at the top of the table.
Ramirez lifts Middlesbrough:
The Riverside outfit were precariously close to the drop zone before the start of the week but a solitary goal from Gaston Ramirez helped Boro take all three points from fellow strugglers Hull City to move into the 13th place in the points table, 4 points off the relegation zone.
Baines frustrates Manchester United:

Jose Mourinho’s men looked like they would take all three points from the game against Everton at the weekend away from home but a late penalty ironically conceded by Marouane Fellaini gave Leighton Baines a chance to equalize which he accepted gleefully. This leaves the Red Devils, 13 points adrift off the top of the Premier League table 14 games into the season.
