2018 FIFA World Cup: Nigeria vs Iceland – Match Preview
The second game of Friday will see Nigeria and Iceland – two teams with contrasting starts to their campaign – taking on each other.
Iceland gave a good account of themselves by earning a famous 1-1 draw with Argentina in their first-ever World Cup game. Lionel Messi saw a potentially match-winning penalty saved by Hannes Halldorsson as Iceland held on to walk away with a precious point. With Argentina losing against Serbia on Thursday, Iceland will have a realistic chance of making it to the next round if they produce another upset against Nigeria.
The African outfit started their campaign with a dismal 2-0 loss at the hands of Croatia. If Nigeria lose, they would become the third African side after Morocco and Egypt to be dumped out after just two group matches. With so much at stake, the game promises to be a blockbuster.
Sportzwiki brings you all you need to know ahead of the clash between the two sides.
