According to the reports from Football Italia, Chelsea have identified Benfica’s talented centre-back Victor Lindelof as a potential replacement for veteran Branislav Ivanovic and are all set to make a move when the next transfer window reopens in January.
Manchester United also believed to have made an approach for him last season but had it rebuffed by his club.
The 22-year-old was a revelation for Benfica as they won the title last season and his form caught the eye of Conte, who would now like him on board at Stamford Bridge.
The Samford Bridge side have struggled to sign a number of their top defensive targets during the summer transfer window, opting finally to re-sign their former centre-back David Luiz and Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso on deadline day.
However, it seems Chelsea new head coach Antonio Conte could still be keen to improve his squad’s defensive options, with reports claim that the Blues could compete with some big clubs for Victor Lindelof this January. The reports from same sources also claim that another European giants are also keen to get the signature of the 22-year-old Sweden international ahead of the next transfer window, including Serie A clubs Inter Milan and League 1 champions PSG, who are searching for the replacement of David Luiz.
