With a crunch tie coming up on Sunday against Liverpool, Manchester United fans will surely relive all the moments in the past that saw their team prevail in this intense North West derby.

It is an important match for both clubs who are trying to find their lost identity in recent times. To bring a smile on the Red Devils here are 5 memorable matches against their arch rivals:

Manchester United 2-2 Liverpool (01/10/1995):

A game not so memorable for its result as it was for the way they go there, Manchester United were down 2 goals to nil thanks to two instinctive finishes from Robbie Fowler. But this match marked the comeback of a Red Devil legend Eric Cantona as he came back from a long suspension against their rivals and in less than two minutes assisted Nicky Butt to start a comeback. And the comeback was completed when Untied were awarded a penalty in the 71st minute that was coolly converted by Cantona himself producing a memorable draw.

Manchester United 4-0 Liverpool (05/04/2003):

In a season that saw United win their 15th league title, Sami Hyypia made a terrible start to the game between these two clubs as he was sent off after just 4 minutes with Ruud Van Nistelrooy converting from the spot. An hour later, Van Nistelrooy converted another spot kick before goals from Ryan Giggs and Ole Gunner Solskjaer finished off a lackluster Liverpool side in one of the most memorable victories for the Red Devils.

Manchester United 3-0 Liverpool (23/03/2008):

Manchester Untied dominated Liverpool on their way to their 17th league title in 2008 when they beat their rivals 3-0 in a game that saw Argentine international Xavier Mascherano sent off on the stroke of half time. Wes Brown gave Untied the lead even before that with 10 minutes to half time while two second half goals from the then Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo ended a dreadful night for the Merseysiders. Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or that season for his superb performance for the Red Devils.

Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool (19/09/2010):

In Dimitar Berbatov’s best game in a Manchester United shirt, the Red Devils took the lead just before half time with a well headed goal from the striker. The second half saw one of the best goals scored at Old Trafford when Berbatov controlled a cross from Nani on his knee and pulled out a bicycle kick that put the ball just under the crossbar beyond Pepe Reina. Red’s legend Steven Gerrard did his best with a brace but another headed goal saw Berbatove finish his hatrick and give Untied a well deserved vitory.

Liverpool 1-2 Manchester United (22/03/2015):

This victory at Anfield in the last season was memorable for more than one reason for a diehard United fan. It was arguably the match in which Mata announced himself with two goals one which he pulled out an overhead kick to beat Mignolet at the far post. But more resoundingly, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was sent off just 38 seconds after coming on in the second half as a substitute in his last match against Manchester United in Liverpool colors. It was a sweet day for the travelling fans staring at the Kop.
