4. Moussa Sissoko to Tottenham: £30m
In a deal that was finalised in the last few moments of the window, Spurs saw off competition from Everton for self-professed Arsenal fan Moussa Sissoko. The Frenchman excelled in the Euros to such an extent that The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards thought he could become “the best all round midfielder in the Premier League”.
However, many Newcastle fans would point out that his failure to save the Magpies from relegation was down to poor motivation and attitude. Such traits do not befit a £30m man.
