Chelsea are ready to make a move for highly-rated AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and will double the wages that the Rossoneri are willing to pay him, according to Calcio Mercato Web.
The Italy international custodian has had an incredible last 12 months, breaking into the San Siro first team before being capped by nation, despite still only being 17.
Milan look set to face a challenge holding onto the teenage starlet, with Juventus reportedly wanting the rising star to replace veteran Gianluigi Buffon in Turin.
The latest report suggests that Milan are planning contract talks with Donnarumma in the new year, but Chelsea are willing to offer him double what that Serie A side would in wages.
The Blues are said to be happy to play the 17-year-old €4 million (£3.47m) per year, which works out at around £67,000 per week.
Chelsea currently have Thibaut Courtois in goal and Asmir Begovic as a deputy, but speculation that the Belgian is eyeing a move to Real Madrid has been doing the rounds in recent transfer windows.
It clearly won’t be an easy task for the Blues to persuade the Rossoneri to sell the teenage treasure, as back in 2015 Donnarumma’s agent has claimed that his client is worth in the region of £119m.
“I’d compare him to a [piece by Italian artist Amedeo] Modigliani.
“He’s worth €170million (£119m) and has a great future. He’s an extraordinary kid and everyone loves him. He’s already a little champion but he can become a great one.”
Donnarumma looks set to be a future world beater and continues to thrive for club and country despite his young age.
