Timo Werner could return to RB Leipzig this summer, after he left them 2 years ago for Chelsea. The striker has evidently failed to emulate his Leipzig success at Stamford Bridge, opening the doors for a potential exit.

Moreover, reports add that Chelsea were ready to offer Werner to Juventus for signing Matthijs de Ligt. However, the defender chose Bayern Munich over a move to London with the Blues.

But the possible departure of Werner is not ruled out yet, after things have gone from bad to worse between him and manager Thomas Tuchel.

The striker is reportedly frustrated over lack of confidence shown in him by Tuchel, and is tired of his immense criticism as per Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plattenberg.

Leipzig interested in taking back their 93-goal asset Timo Werner

Timo Werner made a £45 million switch to Chelsea back in 2020 after scoring a massive 93 goals in just 158 appearances for RB Leipzig. On the other hand, his 89 games so far with Chelsea have yielded just 23 goals and 21 assists.

Tuchel deployed Kai Havertz in a makeshift number-9 role las season, overlooking Werner in the process. The striker has now expressed his frustration over lack of game-time by the manager, with the World Cup this year not far away.

Werner said, “I think of course the manager always has different ideas, different thoughts and what you need in different games. I think in many games I was not in his thoughts so I try to change that.”

Tuchel was quick to send a stern reply to Werner’s comments stating, “I’m surprised, I would be very happy as a young guy having a contract at Chelsea Football Club.

“I would be one of the happiest people on the planet. He needs to get his game time by showing quality, take your place and defend your place.

“I would be one of the happiest people on the planet having a contract with Chelsea. If he said this, I do not understand.”

RB Leipzig are reportedly trying to bring back Werner this summer, either on a permanent basis or a season-long loan move. Borussia Dortmund have also asked for the striker, but he prefers his former club Leipzig only.

Chelsea, however are ready to grant Werner another opportunity to find his feet at the club. The club intends to make a final decision on Werner’s future next summer with his current deal running until 2025.
