Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb has reported that Serie A giants AC Milan are interested in Manchester United’s flop forward Memphis Depay.
The Netherlands international was signed by former United manager Louis van Gaal from PSV Eindhoven for £26million last summer but the forward failed to justify the hype and anticipation surrounding him.He started his career with the Red Devils brightly when he scored a brilliant brace to help United defeat Club Brugge by 3-1 in the first leg of Champions League play-off last summer. The performance made United fans believe that the club has got the worthy successor of the club’s famous No.7 shirt which was previously worn by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona and George Best. However, the Dutch player failed to perform as expected and endured a miserable first season with the Red Devils.
New United manager Jose Mourinho was reportedly interested in selling him but so far he has not. The Portuguese tactician has given Depay few chances to prove himself but he so far he has failed to grab the opportunity.

Meanwhile, Milan, who have struggled to perform well in the last few seasons, are looking to rebuild their team. The Italian outfit’s new Chinese owners are reportedly set to back coach Vincenzo Montella with funds in January and Depay is thought to be high on club’s wishlist.
Well, it seems that leaving United in the near future is the best option for the struggling player. Mourinho is trying to build a team which can challenge for the title and it is very clear that Depay is not a part of his plans. Depay has started just one of his four appearances for United this season and it is quite certain that he is not going to get enough first-team action in the near future. A move away from Old Trafford will be his best option to revive his career.
