Barcelona have entered the race to sign Manchester United target Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan. The Dutch full-back is highly rated by his country-man Erik ten Hag, and wants him to join his project at United.
On the other hand, Barca manager Xavi has requested the club to sign a new right-back due to Sergino Dest’s uncertain future and Sergi Roberto’s injury issues.
While the two clubs are brokering a deal for Frenkie de Jong, Dumfries’ pursuit could once again put them on either sides of the line. According to Fichajes, both United and Barca are ready to battle it out for the full-back.

Dumfries joined Inter only last summer from PSV Eindhoven for a fee of £12 million. However, he could find himself on the move once again, within 12 months of signing for the Italian side.
Dumfries favours Barcelona over Manchester United
While Barcelona have their own problems with Dest and Roberto, Ten Hag has told United’s top brass that right-backs Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka won’t be his first-choice options.
Ten Hag believes Dalot and Wan-Bissaka contradict his playing style, while Dumfries fits in perfectly. The 26-year-old proved his mettle last season with netting 5 goals and collecting 7 assists in 45 appearances for Inter.
The Dutchman further helped his side lift the Coppa Italia, and to a second-place finish in the Serie A with 5 goals and 4 assists in 33 games.
However, though Inter manager Simone Inzaghi has insisted on keeping Dumfries, the club’s poor financial conditions have forced them to put him on a sale.

But the player is ready to leave the club if that means a move to Barcelona or United is on the cards. The full-back wants to continue to play in the Champions League, which makes Barcelona as his favourite destination.
United on the other hand are not willing to give up easily on their transfer target, and could offer more money than what Barca are planning to fork out.
Given Inter’s financial struggles, the club wants around £20m-£25 million for their right-back. But irrespective of their bid, Dumfries prefers Barcelona since they offer him the Champions League, and a chance to keep winning titles as well.
