According to Mirror former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is on the radar of Bundesliga club Wolfsburg after the German club have declared their intention in signing the powerful Belgian next summer.
The news comes after Wolfsburg signed Lukaku’s former team-mate Andre Schurrle for £24 million in January and it is being understood that Schurrle is advocating Lukaku’s move to the Bundesliga. Club director Dieter Hecking did try to sign Lukaku in the summer before he made his £28 million switch to Everton.
Wolfsburg are ready to test Everton’s resolve yet again with a hefty £33 million bid this summer and Lukaku’s intention of playing in the Champions League football will make the move possible for Wolfsburg.
Earlier in the year Lukaku claimed: “They know I’m a good player but that I want to develop so I can eventually get back to playing for a club like Chelsea.
“I don’t have a secret ambition to rejoin — there are other clubs in the world. I just want to grow as a player and eventually arrive at a top club again.”
The German side has been one of the most recent success stories of football. Wolfsburg have seen a massive rise financially and in their on-field performances. They are currently 2nd in Bundesliga and recorded a ground-breaking 4-1 victory over Bayern Munich last month.
Wolfsburg are ready to add Romelu Lukaku to their list of talented players like Kevin Du Bruyne, Ivan Perisic, Bas Dost and Andre Schurrle with a £33 million bid in the summer. Everton are struggling in the league at the moment and with Lukaku’s greater aspirations might force Toffees to sell the Belgian to the Bundesliga side.
