John Terry

Chelsea captain John Terry is wanted by Chelsea’s former manager Andre Villas-Boas at Shanghai SPIG. The Shanghai SPIG manager who took over the club two weeks ago is keen on signing the high profile defender this January but is also ready to wait until summer if needed. Villas Boas succeeded Sven Goran Eriksson as Shanghai SPIG’s new manager.

The Chelsea captain has not received much game time under new boss Antonio Conte and might be preferring a move out of Stamford Bridge though his commitment to the club is second to none. Antonio Conte has switched to his new formation 3-4-3 where Terry finds him on the bench with David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill taking the field. The blues have been playing some exceptional football ever since and it is unlikely that Conte would change his starting lineup any sooner. Chelsea have scored 16 goals and conceded none since switching to their boss’s new style of play.

Terry, who is 35 however turned down an offer from the chinese club last year when Eriksson was at the helm. Instead he signed a new 1 year deal with his club Chelsea where his heart lies. But under Conte, Terry has appeared in only 1 game in the last two months with an injured ankle which are real signs of concern for the defender. Now with Chelsea youngster Kurt Zouma declared fit again to play Terry is expected to face more competition in getting back to the first team.

Villas-Boas did not have a good time with the London club at his time of helm as he was sacked just 9 months into his managerial role. He had a feud with his senior players which included John Terry but is now eager to reunite with the player at Shanghai SPIG, one of the richest clubs in the Chinese League.
