Andres Iniesta And Lionel Messi Close To New Deals Says Barcelona Club Director

Luis Enrique’s Barcelona, who will play Italian giants Juventus in the quarter-final of the Champions League this season later in the season are currently struggling to keep up with Real Madrid in the La Liga.

They are currently two points off their rivals in the 2nd place having also played a game more and they will have to be at their best to have a shot at lifting the La Liga title for the 3rd time in three years.

Though they have not been consistent, Barcelona still remains one of the most entertaining clubs in Europe this season and there was some sweet news for the fans of the Spanish club given out by their club director.

The Catalan giants are looking to improve on their squad at the end of the season and have been linked to some of the best players in Europe. This might see Luis Enrique and Barcelona let a few players leave come the end of the season.

However, they are also worried about the futures of two-star players Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta.

Both players are integral to the plans for Barcelona in Spain and also in Europe but both the players will be out of a contract come to the end of the next season.

So the Spanish side are desperate to get them to put pen to paper but that has not stopped the stars from being linked with an exit.

The Spanish midfielder who is among the best in his position even now in Europe is attracting insane offers from Chinese Super League clubs who are ready to play thrice his current wage. Iniesta can earn up to £670,00 a week if he decides to swap shirts this summer.

Lionel Messi, on the other hand, is wanted in England with Pep Guardiola keen on a reunion at the Etihad.

Manchester City are desperate for star attackers and the manager is reportedly willing to spend more than £100m to get his man this summer.

These reports have left the Barcelona fans a bit worried but Robert Fernandez the club director for Barcelona insists there is no cause for concern and both players will extend.

“[Messi] will renew, as I’ve always said,” he told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser . “He is happy in Barcelona, he feels comfortable in the team and the environment is perfect.

“I don’t have any doubt [that he’ll sign a new deal]. Looking into his eyes I see that he is happy at Barcelona,’ he added.

“[Iniesta] will also renew and he’ll do it in his own time. I have no doubt that he’ll renew and neither does he,’ Fernandez said.

It will come as a great news for Barcelona fans who will now be able to see their favorite stars in action for another couple of season.
