Antonio Conte’s Chelsea seem to grow stronger by the day this season as they have now won each of their last 12 games in the Premier League to keep a 6 point lead at the top of the table, going into the last game this year.
The manager has stuck to a starting lineup that has got him the required results but he will know that he will need much more help from his bench in the rest of the season to stay in this position come the end of the season.
Diego Costa, the Spaniard who is at the top of the scoring charts yet again in the Premier League, is leading the charge for the Blues but Conte’s team selection in the previous game, when Costa was suspended, has raised some eyebrows.
The manager decided to keep the young Michy Batshuayi on the bench in Costa’s absence which is a clear indication that the Italian is looking to add some firepower to his squad in January.
So it does not come as a surprise that papers today are linking Chelsea to former Manchester United star Javier Hernandez.
The Mexico international is s genuine goal scorer who has always had a good conversion rate but in his time in the Premier League, he was not able to cement a place in the starting XI at the Old Trafford and was finally sold for just over £7m.
However, the 28-year old has continued to impress in the Bundesliga, scoring 26 goals in all competitions in Germany last season.
A couple of Premier League clubs were linked with him in the summer but Bayer Leverkusen, his current club, were not ready to let him go.
But with Chelsea now desperate for an attacking addition to staying fresh and firing in the title race, Chicharito, as he is called, might get a way back into the Premier League.

According to Bild, a newspaper in Germany, the Bundesliga side is ready to listen to clubs who are willing to meet their valuation of €30m-€40m.
It is a price that Chelsea will not have a problem splashing and with the player’s experience in the Premier League coming along for the price, Chelsea might want to finish this deal as soon as possible.
At the moment, Batshuayi is the only striker at the club who can cover for Costa but with Conte not trusting him much, Chelsea has very few options but to spend in January.
Their loan system is extraordinary and Conte can dip into that part of the squad to add some depth but with the title on the line, the manager is better off spending on a proven goal scorer, who at 28, is at the start of his prime as a footballer.
Do you think Antonio Conte should spend on Javier Hernandez in January?
