Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has finally responded to the ‘humiliation’ accusation inflicted on him following the incident that happened between him and Jose Mourinho after the Blues thrashed the Red Devils 4-0. After the final whistle, the United boss was seen embracing his Chelsea counterpart and then muttering some words into Conte’s ears in a dramatic manner. Reports further claimed that the Portuguese tactician had told Conte not to humiliate him after the heavy defeat.
In the closing stages of the match, Conte was seen urging the home fans to get behind the players by raising their voice which did not go down too well with Mourinho.
As per reports, Mourinho had said:“It’s just my opinion, but don’t do that at 4-0. You can at 1-0, but at 4-0 it’s humiliation.”
When Conte was asked about the incident after the match, he said:“There was no incident, it was just a normal thing to do. I wasn’t mocking anyone, I wouldn’t do that.”
“Today it was right to call our fans in a moment when I was listening to only the supporters of Manchester United at 4-0.
“The players, after a 4-0 win, deserved a great clap. It’s very normal.
“If we want to cut the emotion we can go home and change our job.”
Well, when Conte during his press conference on Tuesday, was asked whether he was thinking of apologising to Mourinho for his behaviour, the former Juventus manager said that he did nothing unusual in that game and insisted that he deserves respect for his work.
“I think everyone must show respect for me, for my work, for my job, I think in every game I show myself,” said Conte
“I have a history and you can see my history, my past, my behaviour on the bench, it’s normal, I’m a passionate man.
“I want to stay very close with my players, especially when they are struggling.
“I always show respect to my opponent.”
