31 year old midfield star Arjen Robben has expressed his happiness at Bayern Munich. The Dutchman was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. Arjen was also a top favourite of Manchester United gaffer LvG, since his appointment. After the World Cup, Robben publicly accepted that he received offers from the English giants.
The 31-year-old has a year and a half to run on his current contract – and discussing his future at a supporters’ event, he said:
“I never thought about a transfer.
“I am happy in Munich – my family is happy in Munich.
“My contract runs until 2017. You can’t look too far forward in football, but everything is fine at the moment – I hope things continue this way.”
Louis van Gaal has always been vocal about his desire of adding Robben in his attacking midfield. Apart from Robben, he team from Old Trafford was also linked with Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo as well as Gareth Bale as the two have been reported to make an exit from Santiago Bernabeu, soon.
Van Gaal’s interest in Robben increased especially after Holland’s semi final exit from the World Cup. The two men share a good bond due to their Dutch factor. Robben too is an admirer of LvG, having played under him.
“I have a special bond with him,” said the former Chelsea and Real Madrid player. “He is the most important coach in my career. After the match he did ask me to come to Manchester.”
Robben’s move to Manchester United looks unlikely.
