Arsenal (0-0) Middlesbrough: Twitter reactions

Arsenal’s six-match win streak came to an end after the Gunners managed to take only a solitary point in the goalless draw against Middlesbrough. However, the single point was enough for the North London club to move them top of the table.
As expected, the Gunners dominated the possession at the Emirates but failed to create any clear-cut chances in the final third to give their manager Arsene Wenger a perfect gift on his 67th birthday. The home side managed five efforts on target, but only one worried visiting goalkeeper Victor Valdes when he pulled off a brilliant one-handed save to deny Alexis Sanchez.
In fact, the home team should feel lucky to finish the match with a point as Middlesbrough came agonizingly close to scoring on several occasions only to see Petr Cech pulling out brilliant saves on all the occasions.
There was drama late on in the injury time when Mesut Ozil seemed to have given the Gunners victory but his effort was rightly ruled out for offside. Nevertheless, they are sitting at the top of the table with 20 points from 9 games.

No one should ever underestimate the importance of Santi Carzola. Sanchez & Ozil get the praise but Carzola is the metronome #ARSMID

Good draw for Arsenal. Could have been worse. Could have been a defeat.

Boro well worth point and maybe more. Their chances of a higher quality than Arsenal's. Creditable display,

Cazorla to Ozil is the most important passing link of this football club. Our season started to crumble after his injury last season.

How can Arsenal score six goals against Ludogorets and struggle to score against Middleborough? This is painful.

On Wenger's birthday, Arsenal produce the kind of slip-up on winning run we've seen so often over his years. Bad display. Missed Cazorla.
