Monday Night Football cannot get any better than this weekend when two clubs fighting for the title take on each other in an enthralling contest that can see either team take a significant lead over the other in the race for the title. Both clubs have some impressive talent in their squad and will be hoping to get the best out of them when the teams meet at the Emirates stadium on Monday.
Both managers however are sweating over the fitness of star players in their squad and will most probably not be at full strength on Monday. Here is a combined XI of the Gunners and the Citizens according to their present form.
Goal Keeper:
Petr Cech (Arsenal):
A close contest between one of the best keepers in the league. Cech edges it out due to his experience and some great form.
Defense:
Hector Bellerin (Arsenal):
The young full back has been impressive so far this season for Arsenal and is easily a part of this XI with no real competitors.
Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal):
Probably one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League, Koscielny has been superb for Arsenal at the back and is a very important player for the London club.
Nicolas Otamendi (Manchester City):
Otamendi has not had a great start to his Premier League career but has slowly settled down and has shown what he is capable of in the recent games.
Alexander Kolarov (Manchester City):
An important member of the City squad, Kolarov is a gifted player who has the ability to read the game well. He is also an excellent presence for the team in the final third.
Mid-field:
Fernandinho (Manchester City):
The Brazilian is enjoying one of the best seasons in his career as he has been superb in front of the City back line whenever needed.
Yaya Toure (Manchester City):
Toure is one of those players who can make things happen from no-where. He is a very talented player and can score and crate goals for his team making him a very valuable player for his club.
Raheem Sterling (Manchester City):
The injury to Alexis Sanchez sees the young winger Raheem Sterling takes his place in this squad. Sterling is quickly learning the City way and has been effective with his pace and trickery in the last few games.
Mesut Ozil (Arsenal):
Probably the best player in the squad, Ozil has found some serious form this season. He leads the assists chart and is starting to tear defenses apart with his vision and incisiveness.
Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City):
The summer signing for City has taken no time to settle into the Premier League. He has been one of the best players for the club this season and will have to continue his form if his team is to lift the trophy this season.
Attack:
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City):
Though Olivier Giroud has been in top form off late, even a half fit Sergio Aguero is indispensible to this squad. Aguero has the ability to create goals out of nowhere and is a great asset to have for any team. Pellegrini will be hoping that he will not puck up any more injuries this season.
