Arsenal And Chelsea To Battle For Everton Star Who Might Be Sold In January
The January transfer window is just a couple of days away and it is that time of the year where transfer rumours are just going to get spicier and spicier.
Arsene Wenger spent a fair amount of money in the summer transfer window but he his side has had their share of injuries to the key player which might see the manager look into the winter window for some additions.
They have been linked with a number of star players for a move in January with Wenger looking to add a few players to his attack. One such player who is now linked with a move to Arsenal is English midfielder Ross Barkley.
The English international who was born in Liverpool started his career at Everton and is now a first team player at the club at 23. Along with 22 caps for the senior nationals side, Barkley also has more than 120 Premier League appearances for the Toffees giving him some valuable experience.
However, Ronald Koeman, the current Everton manager, has publicly criticised him for the lack of performances recently and he might be tempted to sell for the right price in January according to the Telegraph.
The report from the site also claims that Tottenham Hotspur is ready to make a bid while Chelsea and Arsenal are among the clubs monitoring his situation.
Barkley has just 18 months left on his contract with the Merseyside outfit and if he is unable to prove himself for the rest of the season, he may well have to be sold at a lower price in the summer, leaving Koeman with a small conundrum.
Chelsea is reportedly convinced of his quality and is plotting a summer move but if Everton is ready to let him leave, they may well be able to lure him to London in January.
But with a number of star players at the Emirates having issues with contracts, Arsene Wenger, the manager, is now determined to get the English talent to the capital city.
Though the report reveals that Barkley is not considering a January exit and that he is happy to fight for his place in the side, the time left on his contract might have the final say in Barkley’s future.
At 23, he has already played at the highest level with the best players around but he has been off colour since the start of the year and he will have to turn it around quickly if he wants to secure a move to clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea in the future.
Do you think Arsenal will be able to get their man in the future?
