Arsenal Cult Hero Trolls Mourinho As United Outcast Schweinsteiger Returns To Training 1

Arsenal cult hero Lukas Podolski was quick to poke fun at Jose Mourinho after Manchester United boss made a u-turn on his exile of veteran midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The 32-year-old was brought in from the cold today after Mourinho allowed him to train with the first team for the first time this season.

The former Germany captain hasn’t played a single minute for the Red Devils this term and was told to find a new club by Mourinho when he took over from Louis van Gaal in June.

However, with numerous injuries and Ander Herrera suspended for Sunday’s game against Swansea, Schweinsteiger trained with his United team-mates today.

Many of the German’s former team-mates – including Michael Ballack – have hit out at Mourinho’s decision to drop the veteran and Podolski trolled Mourinho after the side’s 4-0 defeat to Chelsea

And Podolski jumped on the perfect opportunity to troll Mourinho again today when the Portuguese boss backed down over his decision to exile Schweinsteiger.

The reason behind Schweinsteiger’s return is yet unknown. Is Mourinho genuinely interested in reinstating the 32-year-old? Or is it a PR stunt to distract from United’s glaring issues at present?

United fans now believe Schweinsteiger has a future at the club, but according to Manchester Evening News, that’s far from the case.

While Mourinho has offered the midfielder a lifeline, he still very much plans to offload him in the winter transfer window, most likely to America in the MLS.

Manchester United are still looking for a buyer for Bastian Schweinsteiger despite Jose Mourinho’s decision to allow the midfielder to return to first-team training.

He was categorised as a player ‘no longer considered a member of the first-team playing squad’ when United released their fourth quarter financial results last month.

Selling Schweinsteiger will ultimately be to the detriment of Mourinho and United, who currently lack leadership and experience in the centre of the park.

Paul Pogba has yet to find his feet in the Premier League and having a calming presence like Schweinsteiger alongside him might be the key to unlocking his potential.
