Arsenal Mikel Arteta has confirmed injuries to as many as 5 players post their win over Everton in preseason.

The Gunners are currently in the United States for their preseason tour, and after just their first game have major injury issues to deal with.

First-half goals from new signing Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka helped Arsenal cruise to 2-0 win against the Toffees. However, Arteta lost 5 of his players to injuries with just 20 days left for the 2022/23 Premier League season to open.

Arteta provides Arsenal injury update post Everton game

Talking to the press after the game Arteta revealed, “We have Kieran (Tierney) with a slight problem; we have Emile (Smith Rowe) with a muscular niggle, Tomiyasu as well & Ben (White). Vieira has a slight problem in his bone; hopefully, he will start to train in the next week or so.”

So far, only Kieran Tierney and Emile Smith Rowe from aforementioned names have featured for Arsenal in their preseason, against Nurnberg.

While Tierney lasted only 33 minutes in the 5-3 win and was taken-off due to a knock, Smith Rowe didn’t participate in the game against Everton.

On the other hand, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White and Fabio Vieira are yet to play a minute in the preseason.

Arsenal are sweating over Tierney and Tomiyasu’s fitness, since the full-back duo already missed the majority of the 2021/22 season owning to injuries.

Arteta found it difficult to to replace both as their absence cost Arsenal the fourth place. Come new season, it looks as if the first-choice full-backs are yet to achieve the ‘injury-free’ status.

As far as Ben White concerned, the £50 million player arguably had a solid 21/22 season before sustaining an injury towards the end of the campaign.

Fabio Vieira, another summer signing of Arsenal too is recovering from a foot injury and training individually. Meanwhile, Arsenal next come up against Orlando City in the 2022 Florida Cup.
