Arsenal are reportedly eyeing Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann as the replacement of contact rebel Alexis Sanchez.
The Gunners are trying desperately to tie down the Chile international but so far nothing positive has come out yet. The former Barcelona star has asked for a pay rise which the club hierarchy is not willing to consider. As a result, the contract talks have been stalled, raising speculations around the Chilean’s future.
Sanchez has just 18 months left on his current deal and Arsene Wenger has already admitted that he cannot guarantee the Chilean will stay at The Emirates. Manchester City and Juventus are highly interested in the in-form forward and the Gunners, it seems, have started preparing for life without the 28-year old.
Football news outlet, Squawka has reported that Wenger is contemplating the idea of making an audacious bid for Griezmann. The France international has become one of the deadliest strikers on the planet and would be an ideal replacement for Sachez who is currently second in the scoring charts in the Premier League with 12 goals.
The North London outfit, which is currently struggling to keep their title challenge on track after two defeats in a row, are also eyeing Marco Reus and Dimitri Payet as the replacement for Sanchez and his fellow contract rebel Mesut Ozil.
However, it will not be easy for the Gunners to secure the services of the Atletico Madrid star. He is heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and he recently admitted that he is not interested in moving to the Emirates.
The French star revealed Arsenal star Laurent star Koscielny has repeatedly urged him to join the Gunners but he said he is happy to stay ay the La Liga outfit.
Speaking to France Football, he had said:“For Arsenal, he [Koscielny] speaks to me about them often.”But I feel good at Madrid. I do not want to leave. I feel calm here. The little one [his baby daughter] has just arrived, I am playing matches, I feel good. Sorry, I am going to stay. But Arsenal is a wonderful team. They play great with the ball.”
