Arsenal is in a desperate search for a striker to provide competition to French star Olivier Giroud upfront and were linked with big names like Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani but have failed to land either.
With Benzema insisting his desire to stay at Real Madrid and Cavani being not for sale by Paris Saint-Germain, Gunners are looking to finalise a deal for 24-year-old Russian striker Aleksandr Kokorin.
Kokorin is in good form this season with 3 appearances in Russian League scoring 2 goals.
Kokorin is also linked with English outfit Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and also French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Russian champions Zenit St. Petersburg.
According to Russian media, Arsenal is the frontrunner for the star forward’s signature but Wenger is still hopeful about getting Benzema from Real Madrid and the deal is getting delayed for it.
Kokorin is capped 32 times for Russian national team and scored 8 goals. He was a brilliant player for Russian youth set ups as well having 42 youth caps to his name finding the net 22 times.
Kokorin has played a total of 194 games for Dinamo Moscow so far and scored 47 times assisting 25 more.
