Arsenal are reportedly set their interest on Dortmund’s star defender Neven Subotic this summer. The defender has been an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side ever since he took charge of Dortmund back in 2008.
The defender was one of the first signings of Jurgen Klopp and he was brought to Signal Iduna Park from Klopp’s former club Mainz. The defender now has only 16 months left on his current contract and can be available for cut-out price this summer if the defender wants to move away.
Dortmund have been struggling in Bundesliga and were expected to not feature in Champions League next season. The Gunners are in need of a world-class centre half and Subotic can be one they might be looking for.
With veteran German centre half Mertesacker expected to leave Gunners at the end of current season after his disastrous performances throughout the season, the Gunners need a centre half who could fill in the void that will be left by Mertesacker.
However Gunners and Arsene Wenger should also consider his injury prone career which has often made him stay away from action. The defender played a crucial role in Dortmund’s reign in Germany during 2010-12. The defender also missed a large part of action in the last two seasons and have only managed to make 10 league appearences last season for Dortmund.
The defender has already drawn interest from Serie A sides Juventus, Roma and Napoli. The Gunners should act quickly if they need the services of the 27-year old Serb next season.
