Arsenal submit official bid for a WORLD CLASS CDM
Premier League giants Arsenal are apparently keen on signing FC Barcelona star Sergio Busquets. Spanish newspaper Sport reports, Arsene Wenger have requested the club to contact Barcelona for the 27-year-old defensive midfielder’s availability.
Busquets is one of the top defensive midfielder in the world right now and is a key member of FC Barcelona squad. Arsenal are need of a defensive midfielder who have adequate experience. At present they have Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini for that position. While Arteta and Flamini are well passed their prime, Coquelin is yet to grow.
The French youngster did a commendable job for the Gunners in the second half of the season. He gave resolute peroformances week in week out and was gained a lot of praises from his manager and other critics.
But Wenger definitely needs to find a bigger name in the defensive midfield role and Busquets perfectly satisfy his needs. It is believed that the Gunners are even keen on matching Busquets’ wage demands.
The Spaniard is an integral part FC Barcelona and played a vital role in the club’s treble winning campaign last summer. He plays a pivotal role in the side and Barcelona does not have a suitable replacement of Busquets at the moment. Losing him will be a huge blow for Luis Enrique’s side and the media believes that Barcelona may not agree to sell their asset.
It will be an interesting battle between Arsenal and Catalan giants in the transfer window this time. Also Busquets might not leave his childhood club for another venture.
