Former Arsenal great Robert Pires believes that Arsene Wenger will do anything to win the Premier League, even if it means to forgo the Champions League glory. Pires understands the amount of pressure, Wenger is working under after the recent emergence of Manchester City and the continuous success for Manchester United and Chelsea.
Pires was speaking at a charity even where he said: “Of course [winning the title] is possible, It’s plausible because it’s the goal of Arsene Wenger.
“He wouldn’t tell you that, but if he has to choose between the Champions League and the Premier League, he will choose the league because it’s more difficult to win and he is a very competitive person.
“You have Manchester City, Manchester United. Even if Chelsea are in difficulties, it’s tough to play them.
“You have also Liverpool and Tottenham. It’s a very tough league.”
Currently, Gunners sit pretty at the top of Premier League table only trailing City on goal difference. The rate at which Gunners are moving, it is very much possible for them to go on and win the trophy this season and if they are able to do it, no one will be as pleased as Arsene Wenger.
