Arsenal might spend heavily for midfield duo, one of them is a Liverpool target
Arsene Wenger is currently dealing with a tremendous loss of players to injuries especially in the midfield where first choice players Cazorla, Sanchez, Coquelin and Wilshere are currently out and with Arteta only just returning to the squad.
It makes for an embarrassing reading to see the Arsenal injury list every season and a major injury to a star player is always just around the corner for the club. Like with Ramsey, Wilshere and Arteta, it is only a matter of time until a relapse occurs and when coupled with an injury to the creative players like Cazorla or Ozil, it makes for a glum state for the Arsenal fans.
With Arsenal looking firmly in the driving seat until this point for the Premier League title this season, it might be a season of change for the club as they might want to loosen the purse strings a little and buy a decent midfielder instead of extremely disappointing signings like Kim Kallstrom who was injured when he signed for the club in the same window a couple of years ago.
The players in question this time are Granit Xhaka and Adrien Rabiot, both of whom are hard hitting and neat midfield players at an age where they can very much improve. While Xhaka is Monchengladbach’s pivotal player, Rabiot is currently distressed about his situation at the club and might want to leave sooner rather than later for a starting spot.
The fact that Aubameyang has simply ruled out Arsenal as his destination makes it much more imperative for Wenger to restore some pride for the club and manage to make a big name signing to prove that big players still want to come to the club. With the club’s embarrassing transfer window netting them a total of zero outfield players, and with the team depending on Ozil for their life, it remains to be seen if Wenger might take a spin in the market this time around.
