Arsene Wenger did not have the best summer transfer window recently before the start of the current transfer window.
The manager was in the market for a top class striker who can help the club take the next step in Europe but he missed out on most of his top transfer targets due to one reason or the other.
Mauro Icardi, Alexander Lacazette, and Jamie Vardy have all eluded Wenger’s grip in the summer which saw him move for Lucas Perez from La Liga to add some strength to their attack.
However, it now looks like the manager is not happy with the returns from the Spaniard and is still scouting for other strikers who he can add to the squad in January on next summer.
One such player who is reportedly on the radar of the club is Real Madrid star Karim Benzema.
The French international, who was not a part of the French squad in the EURO16 recently has not gotten off to the best starts in La Liga for his club.
He has been linked with a move away from the club with Arsenal most extensively linked with a move for him for a couple of summers now.

Reports from Spanish outfit Fichajes have revealed that Arsenal are plotting a small bid for the French striker to try and lure him out of the Bernabeu next summer.
It is revealed that Benzema’s agent is currently in talks with the Spanish outfit over a contract extension that runs till 2019.
Benzema is a long-term admirer of the current Real Madrid manager and there is hardly any chance for him to leave the club, at least for more than 2 years left on his contract.
He may fall out of favor at the club with Isco and Morata soaring high early in the season but he is an integral part of the squad at the club and is not going to be up for sale, more so with the transfer ban on the Madrid club.
However, given all these, Fichajes had reported that Arsenal are ready to meet his valuation next summer but that they will start with a minimal bid of €40m.
That price is nowhere close to the valuation of the Real Madrid player but it is understood that Wenger wants to try and lure the player to England over the course of the year.
It will be interesting to see if Benzema is ready for a move away from Spain but at the moment, this story is a rumor that will take more importance, the more time it takes for Benzema to agree to a new deal.
Do you think Arsenal can get their man next summer?
