Arsenal ready to trigger HUGE release clause for La Liga midfielder
Arsenal are in pursuit for highly rated Real Betis midfielder Dani Ceballos and are ready to trigger his 9.2 million pounds release clause which can potentially rise up to 11.5 million with bonuses.
The 19-year-old midfield star has been spotted by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger for a long time, he even sent scouts to regularly track Ceballos’ performance this season.
The promising youngster was a key member of the Spain team that eventually won the UEFA European Under-19 Championships in Greece this year and he’s won seven caps for the Under-21s.
And now Spanish news outlet Fichajes suggests Arsenal are ready to activate the release clause in his current contract, which was included before he became a star.
Ceballos has featured in 61 matches for Betis, who was promoted back to La Liga this season, since his arrival two years ago and went on to become a regular in their first team. He will certainly provide much-needed strength and depth in Arsenal midfield following a number of injuries in the midfield.
The young midfield star’s consistent performance forced Betis to offer him with a new five-year-deal back in October but it is believed that he is yet to sign the new deal.
However, the reports also claim, Arsene Wenger may have to act soon enough to secure service of the teenager with both Atletico Madrid and Napoli are chasing the player.
Arsenal have already signed Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny from Basel to bolster his midfield options with four-and-a-half year contract worth £7.4m. Wenger wants to use the midfielder as Francis Coquelin’s replacement until the Frenchman returns from injury. But it will be interesting to see when Coquelin returns how the battle for the first team shirt will continue between these two players. In the absence of Coquelin, Flamini has so far done a decent job, but it is widely accepted that he is not the man to go for in the long run if Arsenal actually want to win the league title.
