Arsenal have looked decent so far as they maintained their level despite few hiccups in the first half of the season. The Gunners are currently in the third position in the Premier League. The North London side are currently nine points adrift of Chelsea.
Wenger has been brilliant in the summer transfer window as he managed to sign Shkodran Mustafi, Granit Xhaka and Lucas Perez to strengthen the team which has so far proved fruitful for the Gunners. Here we look at all the transfer stories surrounding Arsenal in the ongoing transfer window.
Promising young Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral could end his loan spell at Granada ahead of a possible move to Scottish giants Rangers. The 21-year old who is one of the most promising talents at the club has only managed 5 league appearances for Granada this season.
Asked about the move, Wenger said: “We work on it to see if it is possible, yes.”
“He has played games there [for Granada] but at the moment he doesn’t play and personally I think it would be a good transition for him.”
Arsenal have suffered a huge setback in their pursuit to sign striker Andre Silva from FC Porto this summer as Real Madrid have entered the race to sign the exciting forward, according to Daily Star.
The 21-year old is one of the best young strikers in the world as he has already netted 14 goals this season and with Porto not keen to sell him this month, his price is expected to rise up to £50m come the summer.
Real Madrid who were banned from signing players in January have made it clear to Porto that the player is on the top of their wishlist and they will buy him in the summer. Wenger needs to find new options for the striker position with a lot of uncertainty around Sanchez’s future.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that he snubbed Arsenal last summer as he signed a three and half year deal with Bundesliga club Wolfsburg in February.
The 18-year old was one of the best strikers in the U-17 World Cup in 2015 as he has scored 10 goals in the tournament to catch the eyes of Arsenal but he believes he could make a breakthrough at Wolfsburg than Arsenal.
“There were many clubs that were interested in me,” Osimhen told Bild.
“But my choice was Wolfsburg because I think that my development opportunities are highest here.
“If I had gone to Arsenal, for example, I might not have found the route to the first team so quickly. I love football and I have worked hard to get where I am now.”
French champions Paris Saint-Germain are keen to sign Alexis Sanchez in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Chilean will be into the final year of his contract in summer and PSG are keen to capitalise on the uncertainty as they are set to offer him more than the £200,000-per-week wages that the Gunners have offered the new contract with the club set to lure him away to Paris.
