According to the French media outlets, Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Marseille sensation Boubacar Kamara, who has also been a transfer target for the Gunners Premier League rivals Chelsea.
The youngster is rated as one of the most talented young defender across the Europe and could join a number of other big names to come through at Marseille before being poached by Arsenal.
According to the French publication L’Equipe, the former Arsenal duo Samir Nasri and Mathieu Flamini both made the same move as youngsters, and the North London club are now reportedly keeping close tabs on Boubacar Kamara.
It is believed that Chelsea are also interested, but given the two clubs’ respective records when it comes to handing opportunities to talented youngster, a switch to the Emirates Stadium looks the better career move.
The 17-year-old Kamara is yet to sign a professional contract with the League 1 outfit, though the club are determined to tie this exciting prospect down before bigger clubs snap him up.
The terms of the deal have been discussed between the parties, but Kamara is yet to agree a contract with Marseille and it seems he has some big European clubs ready to snare him away from the Ligue 1 side.
Arsenal has been linked with a series of big names but will the Gunners break their habit and splash the cash in January? Wenger’s boys finally look to have a platform to make a serious challenge for the Premier League title and could strengthen their hand with some astute signings in the upcoming transfer window.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has always been reluctant to spend in January.
But he has done before in the first month of the year, signing the likes of Jose Antonio Reyes, Theo Walcott, Emmanuel Adebayor, Andrei Arshavin, Nacho Monreal and Mohamed Elneny.
Monreal is probably the most successful in terms of value for money and impact but Reyes was an important member of the Invincibles team before returning to Spain.
