Arsenal are now set to battle with Liverpool for Corinthians attacker Alexandre Pato in the January transfer window following a report from Italy that both the Premier League sides were offered only £11million to sign the Brazilian striker.

The 26-year-old Brazilian has been highly linked with a move to Premier League in January, while Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool rumoured to be on the verge of agreeing a deal for the former AC Attacker.

Corinthians president Robero de Andrade also claimed that an agreement is in place, “There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the Transfer in the coming weeks.”

Although, Tottenham in recent weeks have showed interest to sign Pato as Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino concerned by his team’s over-reliance on star striker Harry Kane.

Evening Standard also reports that the tree Premier League clubs have been offered a chance to sign the Corinthians striker for only £11m in the upcoming transfer window.

However, Alexandre Pato failed to hit the heights which many football pundits believed he would. He played for AC Millan from 2007 to 2012 scoring 63 goals in 150 appearances, before returning Brazil where he finally manage to discover the goal scoring form. The Brazilian is still only 26 years old and £11million would definitely become a bargain fee for an experienced attacker like Pato who is yet to climb his peak form.

Arsenal’s chief scout Brian McDermott has already revealed there will be no top class strikers available in January transfer window for the Gunners to make a bid, so Wenger might go for a striker who would cost only £11million. McDermott admitted Arsenal supporters don’t have to get their hopes up about bringing in world class star this winter.

“Generally it’s a good squad. He signed a fantastic goalkeeper,” he told Sky Sports.

“The manager won’t spend unless he thinks it’s absolutely necessary.

“The scouting structure at Arsenal is phenomenal.

“We all know who the top strikers in the world are. Can you get them to come? They won’t be available in January that’s an absolute certainty.”
