Arsenal left-back Nacho Monreal has taken his instagram account to express his happiness over training with the team ahead of much awaited North London derby. The Spaniard could now be in contention for the starting place in the high profile game as Arsenal are currently under huge pressure with injuries.
Arsenal stars Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal, Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla have all missed the Champions League clash against Ludogorets midweek. However, the Gunners could expect some of their stars to be back for the game against Tottenham which will be a huge boost for their chances in the game.
Spanish duo Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin have been pictured training with the team as both the full-backs could be starting against their local rivals which is welcome sign for Arsene Wenger.
‘Good feeling training today !! Looking forward the derby,’ the Spanish left-back told his followers.
However, Wenger has told that Theo Walcott is the closest to play the match as the English forward has been recovering from his injury faster than other uncertainties which would mean three out of four injured players are inline to play for the Gunners. But the condition of midfielder Santi Cazorla is yet to be known as he battling against time to be fit in time for the game.
‘There is still some uncertainties over injury because Gibbs has been touched on the shoulder and we don’t know how he’ll respond,’ Wenger said in midweek.
‘There’s also some uncertainty over Cazorla, Monreal and Walcott. The closest to fitness is Walcott but he will have a test today. Monreal will have tests today and tomorrow.
Cazorla has not practised yet. He will try to go out today and we’ll see where we go from there. He’s a doubt.’
But Wenger has confirmed for sure that young full-back Hector Bellerin would start for the club against Tottenham as he was dropped from the squad against Ludogorets as a precaution.
“I left Hector behind [for the Ludogorets match] because I was cautious. He could have played. I could have forced the issue, but he should be all right for Sunday.’
