Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has been included in the Guinness Book of Records this year, for two landmarks he reached last season.
The 34-year-old became the ‘keeper with the cleanest sheets ever in the Premier League, with 181, and also became the only player to ever win the golden glove with two separate clubs, the Gunners and Chelsea.
The 34-year-old keeper started his career in England with Chelsea, where he made 333 appearances in all competitions and has since made an additional 41 with arsenal.
Cech has quickly become a fan favourite at the Emirates, since his move from Stamford Bridge.
Ousted by Thibaut Courtois at the Blues, the former Czech Republic international has gone on to become a key player for Arsene Wenger.
Cech was included in the book alongside Everton midfielder Gareth Barry, as revealed by the Guinness Book of Records, who has become the player with the most Premier League starts ever, 580.
Barry is a vital player at Goodison Park and has made those starts for Aston Villa and Manchester City as well as the Toffees.
Both Barry and Cech can build on their records this season, with the pair still regulars for their clubs despite their advancing years.
The experienced goalkeeper also admitted he was “not destined to be a goalkeeper” and played up front before his youth team found themselves without a man between the sticks.
Ensuring the game could go ahead, Cech pulled on the number one jersey for the very first time and the rest is history.
From there the 6ft 5in keeper rose to prominence in France with Rennes before signing for Chelsea in 2004 to play second-fiddle to Carlo Cudicini.
An injury would put the Italian out of action, opening the door for Cech who didn’t disappoint with a clean sheet on his debut – a 1-0 win over Manchester United.
The Czech international went on to make another 180 appearances – moving to Arsenal in this time – and has made a number of crucial saves for both sides.
His favourite, according to the man himself, was the Arjen Robben penalty he saved in extra time in Chelsea’s Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
