Big Blow: Arsenal Star Admits He Will Leave In January 1

Out of favour Arsenal star Mathieu Debuchy has admitted that he is ready to quit the club permanently in January.

The French international, who moved to Emirates from Newcastle United in 2014, has lost his place to Bellerin in the starting eleven and things are not looking good for him at the club. The full-back, whose career at the Emirates is marred by injuries, made his first appearance since November 2015 during the 3-1 win over Bournemouth last month but limped off the ground after only 16 minutes due to a muscle injury.

The 31-year old has still not recovered from the injury and with Hector Bellerin back in the starting eleven, chances of him getting a place in the playing eleven looks very bleak. And so it is not surprising at all for a player, who has played just 23 games in the two-and-a-half years, to look for a new option.

“I want a new challenge,” Debuchy told L’Equipe.
“I told my agent to come back to me if there was anything concrete.
“I miss not having that excitement, the adrenaline.
“I would prefer a permanent transfer but I’m under contract. If the club says no, what can I do?”

Reports are suggesting that French giants Marseille are interested in signing the full-back. French newspaper Le Parisien has reported Marseille want to bring Debuchy to Ligue 1 where he played for Lillee before moving to Newcastle United in 2013.

Injury can hamper Debuchy’s hopes of moving out of the Emirates but Marseille manager Rudi Garcia worked with him during his time at Lille OSC which might pave the way for Debuchy.

Well, it will be interesting to see Arsenal’s approach in this matter at a time when they are really struggling to hand a new deal to some of their most important players. Moreover, their form has dipped a bit in recent weeks and with the season entering its business end, it is quite unlikely that they will let go an experienced player like Debuchy.
