Having taken all three points right at the death in the Premier League at the weekend, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are currently at the 2nd place in the points table, 8 points off Chelsea at the top of the table.
The manager will be relatively happy with the way the squad has performed this season but he will know that the team might need a few additions in January to keep the ship going till the end.
However, Wenger is ye to make a signing this January and is instead focusing on extending the contracts of star players at the club.
The likes of Hector Bellerin and Alexis Sanchez are just two of the many players at the Emirates that have put pen to paper this season and the manager has now successfully completed yet another contract extension today.
According to reports from England, 19-year old Gedion Zelalem has now signed a contract extension at the Emirates.
A midfielder by trait, the USA U23 international has played in a host of clubs over the years before joining the Gunners back in 2014. He is one of the most highly rated players in the academy at the Emirates but Wenger is yet to give him his first appearance in the Premier League.
The teenager has been used a couple of times in the League Cup this season but lack of playing time has seen Wenger decide to send him out on loan yet again.
It is understood that he is on his way to Dutch outfit VVV Venlo for the rest of the season but that has not changed his position at the club.
The midfielder is expected to follow the footsteps of Jack Wilshere who came up as a graduate at the Emirates and Wenger is now desperate to keep him at the club for the long term.
German outfit Borussia Dortmund were interested in his signature earlier in the transfer window but Arsene Wenger is determined to keep him and has accessed his right to extend the contract of the player for another year.
It is understood that Wenger wants to assess his performances on loan till the end of the season and that he is not ready to let him go on a free.
So the 19-year old will have to be impressive for the next few months to try and get a place in the squad at the Emirates.
