Arsenal are ready to launch an offer for AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali in order to bolster their midfield, according to Calciomercato. The Gunners have offloaded a couple of midfielders this summer and now want their replacements. Further on, having completed five deals already in the market Arsenal are showing no signs of slowing down or stopping.
Sandro Tonali had moved to Milan back in 2020 on an initial loan fee of around £10 million from Brescia. The Rossoneris eventually signed him on a permanent deal in the summer of 2020, further paying Brescia £6 million. The Italian midfielder has only impressed for Milan in last two seasons and the club consider him unsaleable at the moment.

Arsenal will need to table at least £46 million for Tonali
Tonali has been a rock-solid part of Milan’s midfield which helped them to a second-place finish in the 2020/21 Serie A season, and clinch the Scudetto last season. As a result, Calciomercato’s Enrico Camelio who first broke the story has reported that the Serie A champions are reluctant in selling their talented player.
The 22-year-old racked up an impressive 1.5 tackles, 1.3 dribbles, 3.4 progressive carries, 16 presses and2 shot-creating actions in 36 league games last season, further adding 5 goals and 2 assists to show. As the numbers tell, Milan manager Stefano Pioli is against the sale of his star midfielder, but the club could still entertain offers.
However, Milan want at least £46 million for Tonali to commence negotiations with potential suitors, which at the moment happen to be Arsenal. The Gunners have sold midfielders Matteo Guendouzi to Marseille for £10 million and Lucas Torreira to Galatasaray for £5 million and hence want Tonali to replenish the position.

While the transfer operation seems a difficult one to carry out for the Gunners, they have so far accomplished major deals which hands them inspiration to pursue Tonali. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has till now welcomed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City for a combined fee of almost £80 million.
The North Londoners further added Fabio Vieira from Porto for £31 million, Marquinhos from Sau Paulo [£3m] and Matt Turner from MLS side New England Revolution [£6m]. However, Arteta has admitted that he wants more signings and a robust midfielder alongside Thomas Partey is next on his list. And Sandro Tonali has emerged on the Gunners’ radar to hand in their manager what he wants.
