Arsenal want to sign long term Liverpool transfer target

After yet another unsuccessful season, Arsene Wenger has been subject to a lot of criticism for the lack of consistency this season.
Injuries to a number of key players has not helped their cause and with hardly any business done in the summer transfer window before the start of the season, Wenger has to take the blame for lack of depth in the squad.
However, the manager seems to have learnt his lesson and is plotting big money moves for a number of star players from all over Europe for a move to the Emirates this summer.
The latest name added to the wish-list for the Gunners is the Borussia Dortmund mid-fielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
It is understood that Arsenal have been monitoring the progress of the mid-fielder and have sent several scouts to Germany to see the player in action for the German franchise.
Mkhitaryan was close to a move to Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur before he signed for Dortmund in 2013 on a 4-year contract worth £23.5 million.
With his contract set to end next season, Dortmund are persuading the 27-year old to sign a new contract for the club but if the talks fail, the German club will surely want to cash in on the mid-fielder this summer rather than letting him leave on a free transfer next summer.
The Armenian international is a versatile player capable of playing anywhere across the line behind the striker and has been impressive in his stint at Germany attracting a lot of interest from top clubs across Europe.
He has bagged 20-goals in all competitions for the German outfit and is regarded as one of the best performers in the Bundesliga this season.
Arsenal signed Elneney from Basel in January but with the likes of Arteta, Rosicky and Flamini whose contracts with the English club terminate this season are all set to leave the club this summer and it is expected that Mkhitaryan will be a very good addition to the squad at the Emirates.
With Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and Theo Walcott also unsure about their futures at Arsenal, the 27-year old will surely be on top of the wish list for the Gunners this summer.
However, the Dortmund midfielder is also expected to be a transfer target for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool who has a good relationship with the player at his time in Germany.
Manchester United were also linked with the 27-year old and it will be interesting to see come this summer as to who makes the first move for the player.
Do you think Mkhitaryan will suit Wenger’s style of play at Arsenal?
