Arsenal Yet To Offer New Deals For Star Trio Who Could Be On Their Way Out Of The Club In the Summer

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal went trophyless in the previous season and though they managed to make a good start to the current campaign, the last few rounds in the domestic league have seen them lose some ground at the top of the table.

The Gunners are currently in the 4th place, 8 points off Chelsea at the top and the manager will know that his team has to play out of their skins till the end of the season to stand a genuine shot at the Premier League title.

Wenger is not known for his spending in the transfer market and this January has been no different. The Gunners have been looking at a few options but the manager has prioritised extending contract of the players already at the club.

This has seen Arsenal announce a number of new deals recently. The likes of Hector Bellerin, Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin have all put pen to paper since the start of the season and Wenger is now busy trying to get other players to sign in the next few weeks.

The likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are stalling on new contracts while defender Per Mertesacker is expected to sign a new one in the upcoming days but Wenger is now sweating on the deals for three influential players at the club.

Midfielder Jack Wilshere and defender Kieran Gibbs and winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have entered the final 18 months of their contract with the club and Wenger is now desperate to tie them to new deals.

However, according to reports from Evening StaYet To Ondard, the futures of all the three players are in doubt this season.

Jack Wilshere, the English midfielder who left to Bournemouth on loan at the start of the season, already has 8 starts for the Cherries and is enjoying a productive time. He has also got into the national set up under Gareth Southgate but Wenger is yet to offer him an extension at the Emirates this season.

Winger Oxlade-Chamberlain has got his chances this season but he has not been effective enough to warrant a constant place in the starting XI.

He revealed earlier this season that he will have to assess his situation at the club and that he will make a decision depending on the amount of game time he gets at the Emirates.

English defender Kieran Gibbs, however, has a different approach as he is far from the first choice full-back at the club. Nacho Monreal is the first team player on the left side of the defence for Arsenal and Wenger is also looking at possible left-backs from Europe to add to the squad.

So Wenger is yet to offer him a new contract and it looks like Gibbs could be out of the club by the end of the season.

Though the manager spoke about extending the contracts of all three players in the past, he is yet to offer them a deal and it might not take long for the trio to decide against the club.

Do you think Wenger should tie any of the three players to long term deals at Arsenal?
