Breaking: Arsene Wenger Gets Four-Match Touchline Ban 1

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been slapped with a four-match ban by the Football Association for pushing fourth official Anthony Taylor during Sunday’s 2-1 home win over Burnley. He has also been handed a fine of £25,000 for the misconduct.

Wenger lost his cool when referee Jon Moss awarded Burnley a penalty in the 93rd minute who were trailing 1-0. A furious protest from the Gunners’ boss saw him getting banished from the touchline and was ordered to watch the remainder of the game in the dressing room.

Wenger, however, after moving away from the pitch, stood at the tunnel entrance and refused to leave the area as he tried to watch the remaining few minutes of the dramatic clash that saw Alexis Sanchez converting a 98th-minute penalty to bag all the three points for the Gunners. Afterwards, when the fourth official asked Wenger to leave the tunnel, the Gunners boss was seen to push back against him.

Arsene Wenger has already apologised for pushing fourth official Anthony Taylor

The release from the FA stated:“It was alleged that in or around the 92nd minute, he used abusive and/or insulting words towards the fourth official.

“It was further alleged that following his dismissal from the technical area, his behaviour in remaining in the tunnel area and making physical contact with the fourth official amounted to improper conduct.

“The Arsenal manager, who was also fined £25,000, admitted the charge and requested a personal hearing which took place before an Independent Regulatory Commission today [Friday 27 January 2017].”

The ban means Wenger will miss some key games for his club like the FA Cup clash against Southampton on Saturday and the crunch clash against Premier League leaders Chelsea on 4th of next month. The other two matches are against Watford and Hull City in the Premier League.
