Arsene Wenger has given a major boost to Arsenal fans ahead of heir FA Cup final clash on 30th may. Arsenal manager confirmed the news that Alexis Sanchez will not leave for the Copa America tournament which will be hosted by Sanchez’s home country Chile.
Arsene Wenger has reached an agreement with the Chile FA to hold Sanchez back for the FA Cup and let Sanchez miss the early legs of Copa America, which is set to start on 11th June.
As per FIFA rules, a player has to be released by the club 14 days before the start of an International tournament, thus Sanchez will not be available for the early matches of the Copa America. Wenger revealed how he has made the Chile FA agree to Sanchez’s stay for the FA Cup final against Aston Villa.
Wenger said: “We got an agreement they won’t call him, They could call him up. Anyway, I am sure he would not go!”
Copa America will bring troubles for the South American players who qualify for the Champions league final as well. Champions League final will be played on 6th June and likes of Neymar (Brazil and Barcelona), James Rodriguez (Colombia and Real Madrid), Dante (Brazil and Bayern Munich) and Arturo Vidal (Chile and Juventus) could miss the start of the Copa America if they qualify for the Champions league final.
Arsene Wenger however, did reveal that Alexis Sanchez will miss the initial few weeks of next season if Chile move in to the advance rounds of the Copa America.
Wenger said: “It’s not good news because they finish very late and if Chile go very far he will miss the start of the season,”
