Confirmed: Wenger not in control of everything at Arsenal anymore, is he leaving??
Arsene Wenger has no longer have the influence on the club’s proceedings like in the past, claims Arsenal CEO Ivan Gazidis.
The Frenchman who has turned 67 this week has recently celebrated his 20th anniversary as the manager of the club last month and the Gunners are looking for a potential replacement as Wenger is into his last year of his contract which is set to be expired next summer.
Wenger has been one of the major reasons for Arsenal becoming a European super club as he has taken the club to a whole new level after taking charge in 1996. However, he has been heavily criticized by the fans and critics for his too much control on the club matters.
Ivan Gazidis has revealed that the Frenchman has lesser influence than the past and has appeared to be hinting that the club is preparing for the life after Wenger as they have been heavily reliant on the Frenchman over two decades.
‘Gone are the days when Arsene would make all decisions himself,’ he said.
‘You could have a club whereby Arsene Wenger would do everything himself.
‘But there is a big team around him of world leading experts in areas such as scouting, player recruitment, analytics, medical, strength and conditioning, psychology and coaching.
‘All these different areas that equip us to move forward with the game.’
Arsene Wenger has been leading the side on a high this season as they have been very good so far after a poor start to the season. The Gunners have managed an impressive six game winning streak in Premier League which ended with a 0-0 draw to Boro this weekend and have been dominant in Champions League as they are at the top of their group.
