Arsene Wenger Planning A Summer Move For This Champion Goalkeeper

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal were back to winning ways this weekend as they arrested their two-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Marco Silva’s Hull City side at the Emirates.

This victory keeps the Gunners in the top-4 places in the points table but they have a lot of work to do from now to the end of the season if they are to entertain any chances of challenging Chelsea for the title.

The manager spent decent money on the squad in the summer before the start of the season but he is still unhappy with his options and has been looking to add a few players to his squad at the end of the season.

This has seen him linked with some superstars in Europe but one player who is now extensively linked with a move to the Emirates is Leicester City shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel. The 30-year old English shot-stopper is one of the most experienced players in the Premier League in his position and he is fresh off of a title-winning camping with Leicester City last time round.

He is the first choice for Claudio Ranieri at the King Power this season but his trustworthy appearances for his side has seen him attract interests from bigger clubs in the country.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, who are hardly convinced by their goalkeeping pairing of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, have been linked with a move for the former Manchester City star but Arsenal have now joined the race for his signature.

According to reports from the Daily Star, Arsene Wenger wants Kasper Schmeichel to replace Petr Cech at the Emirates next season.

The Czech star is currently the first choice goalkeeper for Arsene Wenger at the club but he is 34, and may not be playing at the club for too long.

He is expected to stay at the club at least for another year but Wenger is desperate to already add an another name and is looking at Schmeichel for his squad.

The Danish international has spent a number of years on loan at different clubs in England but he has been at the King Power for 6 years now, making more than 200 appearances for the side.

Claudio Ranieri insisted that he is not up for sale even at the end of the season but Wenger is desperate for his signature and is ready to make a move for him.

It is understood that he might cost around £30m in the summer, which might push both clubs away.

Do you think Arsenal or Liverpool can land Schmeichel in the summer?
