Arsene Wenger slams Liverpool, calls Rodgers sacking as IRRATIONAL
Arsenal’s legendary manager Arsene Wenger has slammed Liverpool FC for sacking Brendan Rodgers and appointing Jurgen Klopp as the new club manager.
Liverpool sacked their previous manager Brendan Rodgers on Sunday after the Reds drew 1-1 with merseyside rivals Everton. The pressure was mounting on the Northern Irish manager under whom the team was struggling heavily. Thus, the Everton result triggered completely against him as he was sacked moments after the game.
Last night at Liverpool, the club unveiled former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp.
As the fans around the world rejoiced at this huge decision take by the Liverpool manager, there is one manager who slammed the Reds owners for such a harsh decision.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger backed Brendan Rodgers and said that he was shocked at such a quick decision.
Wenger was quoted: “Let’s not forget Liverpool has not won the championship since 1990. They won 18 championships and since 90 they have not won the championship.
“They came the closest to winning it two years ago and now I don’t know why really, the rational reasons why they have made that decision so quickly. It’s difficult for me to understand.
“I’m surprised because first of all for me it’s very sad.
“I think when you lose your job in life, it’s difficult and on top of that after eight games it’s very, very difficult because if you start well and you have a bad moment during the season, people forgive you.
“But if you start wrong straight away you are questioned and that’s what happened to Brendan Rodgers.”
Liverpool came closest to win the Premier League title in the last 25 years under Brendan Rodgers’ in 2013/14. The Reds lost the plot in the ending moments of the season as Manchester City had the last laugh.
Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling inspired Liverpool to come very close but the famous ‘Slip’ of Steven Gerarrd against Chelsea changed all the equation.
Well, sacking Brendan Rodgers was definitely a wise decision on the FSG’s part as it was necessary for the well being of the club. But then again the oldest running manager in the Premier Leageu thinks otherwise.
