Ruling out making a move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has insisted his team does not need any striker.
The France international has been struggling in front of the goals and has scored only five in La Liga this term. And with the demanding Santiago Bernabeu faithful booing the French star, Spanish news outlet Diario Gol had claimed the Los Blancos have offered the 29-year-old to the London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
However, Wenger has said he does not need to sign his compatriot as his squad already has enough depth.
Speaking ahead of his team’s Premier League clash against Watford, the French tactician said:
“He is linked with us because he is French and maybe there is a bit of noise that he could leave Madrid.”

“But there is no need for us to buy any strikers. On our front, we have a big squad and don’t need to buy. I believe that numbers and quality wise we have what is required,” he added.
The Arsenal boss must have got the confidence from Danny Welbeck’s performance against Southampton in the FA Cup on Saturday. Making his first start since May 2016, the England international scored two brilliant goals and looked in brilliant form throughout the game as the Gunners thrashed the Saints 5-0 to advance to the fifth round.
Speaking about Welbeck, he said:
“Welbeck is very sharp but he’s not out of it completely.
“We have to be cautious. Physically he’s ready but we have to manage the times we use him. To come out of what he’s gone through you need to be mentally strong. That’s not a gift of God, you have to go through all kinds of suffering to get to that.
“Of course he has done enough to keep his place but we have to be cautious on him. I don’t know how we will use him after three days, I think he’s a bit short for that,” he concluded.
